[17:04:43] <gillux> hello, I’m using archlinux32. Since I now have a 64bits CPU, I would like to switch to the original archlinux distribution. I am thinking about following method 2 of this guide https://wiki.archlinux.org
[17:04:44] <phrik> Title:Migrating between architectures - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)
[17:05:00] <gillux> but I wonder how accurate is it. Maybe it’s from the time i686 was part of the original archlinux distribution?
[17:06:16] <gillux> any other advice about switching to x86_64?

[21:47:53] <pulec> wait, why you have i686 on a system which can manage 64bit?
[21:48:17] <pulec> unrelated question tho, lemme give it a read
[21:48:19] <pulec> gillux:
[21:48:44] <pulec> hm wiki is pretty clear about it
[21:49:03] <pulec> you have methods, and from my general understanding you just switch kernel and some packages, no biggy
[21:49:18] <pulec> I would recommend doing disk image, trying it out and just see

[23:43:11] <deep42thought> gillux: that guide looks like it might work
[23:43:16] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[23:43:18] <deep42thought> two things though:
[23:43:28] <deep42thought> 1st: you should make a backup before you start
[23:44:06] <deep42thought> 2nd: in the "Change Pacman architecture" step, you obviously need to change to the 64-bit mirrorlist, too
