[04:18:14] <mynameiscow> Hi has anyone here had problems recently with startx? I'm trying to revive an old netbook. It has an Intel Atom processor with integrated graphics. Unfortunately, startx fails with xf86EnableIOPorts. In the Xorg log files I see "(EE) DRI2 No driver mapping found for PCI device ..." This seems like a driver problem. Any ideas?

[18:29:09] <Ingar> Hi, I was playing around with archlinux32 and ran into an issue with firefox:
[18:29:21] <Ingar> cannot open shared library libicui18n.so.61
[18:29:40] <Ingar> it seems I do have libicui18n.so.62
[18:30:07] <Ingar> I can symlink .61 to .62 but then some more libs with a similar issue crop up
[18:33:19] <Ingar> (more icu libs obviously)
[18:33:58] -!- davor has quit [Ping timeout: 272 seconds]
[18:36:44] -!- davor has joined #archlinux32
[18:40:00] <Ingar> Interestingly enoug,
[18:40:22] <Ingar> the firefox package page marks those two libs as non-satisfieable dependecy
[18:45:56] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux32
[18:45:57] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[18:46:22] <abaumann> Ingar: thudnerbird and firefox don't currently build, you can use binaries from the AUR called firefox-bin and thunderbird-bin.
[18:46:50] <Ingar> abaumann: aah that sucks, thanks for the info!
[18:47:05] <abaumann> For details see https://bbs.archlinux32.org and https://bugs.archlinux32.org
[18:47:06] <phrik> Title:Where's Firefox 61.0.1 package ? / Pacman / Pacman Upgrades / Arch Linux 32 Forums (at bbs.archlinux32.org)
[18:47:23] <abaumann> yeah. basically, the linker runs out of virtual address room when linking libxul.so
[18:47:40] <Ingar> wtf oO
[18:47:42] <abaumann> I was playing with disabling LTO, so far no luck. At least not consistenly.
[18:48:05] <abaumann> yeah. Give developers resources and they will (ab)use them..
[18:48:35] <Ingar> looks more like a bug, obviously 32bit versions exist
[18:48:55] <abaumann> yes. but to me it's not clear how Mozilla builds them..
[18:49:07] <abaumann> besides.. Archlinux32 flags can change the experiment.
[18:49:24] <abaumann> lately my suspision is systemd-spawnd which plays with the virtual address room.
[18:49:38] <abaumann> I can build firefox/thunderbird on a bare-metal 32-bit Archlinux32.
[18:50:07] <abaumann> we are playing a big catch-up game here.. eventually we are going to loose it. :-)
[18:51:06] <Ingar> I refurbished some old mini-computers. turns out they're 32bit so I ended up with arch32 :)
[18:51:20] <abaumann> ah. sweet. :-)
[18:52:02] <Ingar> was doing a LXQT test setup in a virtual machine, all works fine, except firefox :(
[18:52:14] <abaumann> mynameiscow: can you try with Option "AccelMethod" "none" in your xorg.conf, see also https://bugs.freedesktop.org
[18:52:16] <phrik> Title:106796 – xserver fails to start: [DRI2] no driver mapping found for PCI device 0x8086 / 0x0be1 (at bugs.freedesktop.org)
[18:52:22] <abaumann> can you post the exact model of your GPU here?
[18:52:50] <abaumann> yeah. firefox is linked against icu 61, we had to push icu 62 because other things are breaking.
[18:53:11] <abaumann> You can also try the "symlinking 61 to 62" trick, but you might experience segfaults :-)
[18:53:25] <abaumann> https://aur.archlinux.org
[18:53:26] <phrik> Title:AUR (en) - Search Criteria: firefox-bin (at aur.archlinux.org)
[18:53:45] <Ingar> I could of try buildilng ff 61
[18:53:54] <Ingar> or build 60 against icu 62
[18:54:24] <abaumann> 60 might actually build. But have 4 GB of RAM ready :-)
[18:54:49] <abaumann> seamonkey still works fine.. also an option.
[18:56:24] <Ingar> are there official PKGBUILDs somewhere ?
[18:56:34] <abaumann> asp export firefox
[18:56:42] <abaumann> change arch to contain i686
[18:57:55] <abaumann> eventyally append https://git.archlinux32.org to PKGBUILD
[18:57:56] <phrik> Title:archlinux32/packages: Package customizations and pure-i686 packages - Archlinux32 Gitea (at git.archlinux32.org)
[18:58:30] <abaumann> ah, and change the version number if you want to build an older version of firefox
[18:59:39] <Ingar> this .. is probably going to take slightly more time than initially anticipated
[18:59:50] <abaumann> yes :-)
[19:00:07] <abaumann> just build firefox-bin from the AUR.. should do the trick for an early test.
[19:00:31] <Ingar> I did LFS! I should be able to build firefox! </ego>
[19:00:39] <abaumann> lol :-)
[19:00:41] <abaumann> yes. :-)
[19:01:43] <abaumann> ..and from the point of view of reproducability of builds it's always better to avoid binary blobs.
[19:04:32] <abaumann> deep42thought: some buildslaves (I think buildknecht2) had some weird hg caching directory in your home directory resulting in firefox failing to build
[19:04:49] <abaumann> sadly, the logfile has gone..
[19:10:41] -!- oaken-source has joined #archlinux32
[19:27:40] -!- morealaz has joined #archlinux32
[19:39:55] <Ingar> mm according to the BLFS page on firefox the linker actually needs 6G
[19:40:08] <Ingar> is it even possible to build that in native 32bit
[19:40:24] <Ingar> (well, as in, not cross-compiling)

[21:56:17] <Ingar> failing
[22:06:07] -!- deep42thought has joined #archlinux32
[22:06:07] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[22:06:23] <deep42thought> abaumann: the log is not gone: https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org
[22:06:37] <deep42thought> Hi buildmaster, what's up?
[22:06:37] <buildmaster> up? I'm up for 1 day, 15 hours, 14 minutes, load average: 2.09, 1.48, 1.29
[22:11:25] <deep42thought> this error is really strange
[22:11:41] <deep42thought> the failed job was on buildknecht2, which does not even have a user "erich" O.o
[22:12:21] <deep42thought> ah, no
[22:12:59] <deep42thought> it was from nlopc43, which has erich :-)
[22:18:20] <buildmaster> bzip2 is broken (says buildknecht).
