[00:56:39] <djmoch> bill-auger: i had to have my account manually enabled after i created it to be able to open bugs
[00:57:07] <djmoch> bill-auger: my guess is it's an anti-spam measure, but i haven't actually asked the question
[01:18:12] <bill-auger> tyzoid: is the true? ^ could you authorize my account?
[03:00:07] * buildmaster goes insane.
[03:10:23] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
[03:26:02] * rcf offers the brown acid to buildmaster, hoping to end the resumption of sanity.

[06:31:55] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[06:32:25] <deep42thought> bill-auger: assuming, you're bill auger on the bugtracker, too, I enabled your account (otherwise I enabled some imposter's account)
[06:33:45] <deep42thought> and: yes, it's an anti-spam measure
[06:34:02] <deep42thought> because nothing seems / seemed to help on the forums against the spam
[06:47:56] <bill-auger> same as this nick with a hyphen
[06:49:14] <deep42thought> as I said: should be activated to report bugs now (hopefully, commenting works, too)
[06:49:16] <bill-auger> yea forums are a juicy target but bug trackers are not so much
[06:51:07] <bill-auger> we have been lokking into the issue of the 'Unknown Packager' that has been bugging us for a long time - luke open a bug report and i was going to add a script i wrote that finds that
[06:56:31] <deep42thought> I think, we found the issue
[06:56:48] <deep42thought> but identifying the packages is still valuable :-)
[06:58:44] <deep42thought> bye, titus_livius

[07:07:07] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[07:08:13] <bill-auger> alright ill add it - it listed about 2200 packages yesterday

[07:26:23] <bill-auger> ok can not attach files apparently - i put a link to it instead

[08:12:45] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[08:12:52] <deep42thought> Hi buildmaster, what's up?
[08:12:53] <buildmaster> up? I'm up for 3 days, 38 minutes, load average: 2.29, 2.15, 2.34
[08:17:21] -!- abaumann has joined #archlinux32
[08:17:22] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[08:17:29] <deep42thought> Hi abaumann!
[08:17:33] <abaumann> hi.
[08:17:44] <abaumann> 7000 packages in the todo list?
[08:17:47] <lukeshu> deep42thought: We went through a number of ineffective captchas on ParabolaWiki before just copying "What is the output of the command `date -u +%V`uname`|sha256sum|sed 's/\W//g'`?" from ArchWiki.
[08:17:49] <deep42thought> whoot?
[08:19:03] <lukeshu> It seems to have kept the spam out.
[08:19:17] <deep42thought> lukeshu: we should probably try this, too
[08:19:19] <deep42thought> tyzoid: ^
[08:19:45] <deep42thought> abaumann: I have no idea, what's going on ...
[08:19:59] <abaumann> ..ah.. me neiher. :-)
[08:20:14] <deep42thought> I thought, you might have broken something ;-)
[08:20:35] <abaumann> currently my i686 slave is building..
[08:20:49] <deep42thought> and successfully uploading, too?
[08:20:54] <abaumann> ..so, it cannot be fundamentally broken.
[08:21:02] <abaumann> filezilla.. will take a while..
[08:21:11] <deep42thought> filezilla is in community-staging
[08:21:20] <deep42thought> was built on "2018-09-24 06:20:23"
[08:21:41] <deep42thought> the built packages look reasonable
[08:21:50] <deep42thought> maybe the 7k to-be-built packages are all i486?
[08:22:06] <abaumann> yeah. probably.
[08:22:21] <abaumann> and they are blocked on i486/gcc
[08:22:34] <abaumann> which failed due to low memory. :-)
[08:22:43] <abaumann> yeah. this explains it..
[08:23:00] <abaumann> ah. now my i686 build slave builds haskell.. so all is well. :-)
[08:25:08] -!- woshty has joined #archlinux32
[08:25:34] <abaumann> my 64-bit archlinux problems around libvirt, missing bridged network, vms running on 100% CPU still remain.. :-(
[08:25:41] <deep42thought> there are still quite some packages on the i686 build list
[08:27:41] <bill-auger> abaumann: how mature is the 486 port? my pentium133 could maybe be a guinea pig
[08:28:14] <abaumann> bill-auger: it can boot into text mode and has base and base-devel roughly.
[08:28:52] <abaumann> I tested it on an AMD Geode and a AMD K6 so far.
[08:29:15] <abaumann> Booting can be a pain, especially with less than 64MB RAM.
[08:29:33] <abaumann> The last i486 ISO is: http://archlinux32.andreasbaumann.cc
[08:29:34] <bill-auger> mine has 96MB RAM
[08:29:38] <abaumann> wow!
[08:29:55] <abaumann> 256 MB on the geode and 192 MB on the K6
[08:30:16] <abaumann> This ISO runs directly on the CD-ROM drive, no loading into memory but for the kernel and the ramdisk.
[08:30:19] <bill-auger> yea i beefed it up using RAM from multiple boxes
[08:30:45] <bill-auger> i think it had 16MB new
[08:31:04] <abaumann> 128MB would have been enormously expensive back in the days. :-)
[08:31:29] <abaumann> deep42thought: how much memory has your 486 VM?
[08:31:49] <deep42thought> 512MB
[08:31:51] <abaumann> I see Killed messages because of out of memory in the i486/gcc logs (at least in some older ones).
[08:31:54] <abaumann> mmh.
[08:31:56] <abaumann> weird. the same as me.
[08:31:57] <bill-auger> i am mostly interested in using it as a VNC client so i would try to get at least bare X going
[08:32:21] <abaumann> There is a while to build up to X.
[08:32:47] <bill-auger> it runs tinycore pretty sweetly
[08:32:50] <abaumann> Our hope was: let's reschedule all of the packages and eventually they will build on the i486 builds slaves. :-)
[08:33:11] <abaumann> Yeah. I don't see, why this should not work..
[08:33:27] <deep42thought> there are still some cycles to break, it seems
[08:33:42] <abaumann> I'm afraid so too.
[08:33:53] <abaumann> First priority should be to get this gcc out of it's loop...
[08:33:56] <deep42thought> or at least, the build master sees cycles, because your bootstrapped packages are not in the database
[08:34:20] <abaumann> ...what's strange: it built fine on my 512 MB VM.
[08:34:26] <abaumann> Swap space?
[08:34:33] <deep42thought> none
[08:34:41] <deep42thought> how much should I add?
[08:34:50] <abaumann> I gave it 4GB
[08:34:52] <deep42thought> ok
[08:34:57] <abaumann> 2-3 GB should be enough.
[08:35:15] <abaumann> Let's try that first :-)
[08:35:24] <deep42thought> doesn't matter - this raid has 16TB
[08:39:11] <deep42thought> hmm, the vm doesn't see its new hard drive :-/
[08:40:55] <abaumann> virtio, scsi, ide?
[08:42:17] <deep42thought> -drive file=/home_raid/erich/archlinux32/qemu/bs0-sdb.img,format=raw
[08:42:20] <deep42thought> (qemu)
[08:42:25] <abaumann> * abaumann sits in a train with a quite chunky internet connection...
[08:43:24] <deep42thought> ah, wait
[08:43:30] <deep42thought> looks, like bs0 didn't restart
[08:43:56] <deep42thought> the other one sees the disk as expected :-)
[08:44:03] <abaumann> ah. :-)
[08:46:30] <deep42thought> ok, up and running with 4GB swap, now
[08:47:56] <abaumann> good. :-)
[08:49:42] <deep42thought> I added another todo to address the "unknown packager" thing
