[17:24:58] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[17:24:58] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> I remember the old saying in archlinux: "core" is for the things we need to boot the system and build the system. So meson is now part of core?
[17:26:16] <abaumann> deep42thought: bcprov runs in cyrcles, there is a message:

[20:08:15] <noctambulo> does anyone know why pacman wasn't working yesterday? (not from the hard disk installed system and neither from the archlinux iso setup)
[20:13:17] -!- noctambulo has parted #archlinux32
[20:13:36] -!- noctambulo has joined #archlinux32
[20:15:10] <noctambulo> each time i was updating with pacman i was getting buggy files
[20:15:34] <noctambulo> having problems with gpgs and database files
[20:16:28] <noctambulo> could have thought it was the installed system but i deleted the partition just for discovering the iso had the same issue
[20:17:23] <noctambulo> and obviously, the iso worked before before
[20:18:22] <noctambulo> so i guess someone changed something, but i want to know when is gonna end to go back to arch
[20:27:21] <noctambulo> pacman -S question answer
[20:27:30] <noctambulo> pacman -R answer delay
[20:27:37] <noctambulo> pacman -Syu
[20:41:45] <Cthulu201> Getting "Unrecognized archive format" from the canadian pkg dbs. tyzoid's mirror is still solid.

[22:47:10] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[22:47:10] <buildmaster> !rq deep42thought
[22:47:10] <phrik> buildmaster: <deep42thought> brtln: you're "the arch linux", we're "the other arch linux" and alarm is "arches linux", then?
[22:48:05] <deep42thought> abaumann: the error you gave is unrelated - it's just saying, that "download_sources_by_hash()" cannot download the source by hash - anything else, that is being printed? (are your build scripts up-to-date?)
[22:48:40] <deep42thought> noctambulo: which mirror are you using? what errors does pacman give?
[22:51:02] <deep42thought> Cthulu201: It looks, like the canadian mirror is no longer existant - I'll write an email to the operator to clarify.
[22:52:57] <noctambulo> well, i tried lots of mirrors
[22:53:10] <noctambulo> i even used the archlinux mirror file generator
[22:53:38] <noctambulo> tried american and french mirrors
[22:54:01] <deep42thought> noctambulo: but you're sure, you used the archlinux_32_ mirrors, right?
[22:54:18] <noctambulo> well
[22:54:27] <noctambulo> i used the archlinus i686 iso after that
[22:54:40] <noctambulo> and in the setup was having the same issue
[22:54:51] <deep42thought> hmm, ok
[22:55:05] <deep42thought> the iso should have the correct mirror list
[22:55:18] <deep42thought> it was a not-too-old iso, I assume?
[22:55:23] <noctambulo> no
[22:55:31] <deep42thought> something after 2017-01 or so
[22:55:37] <noctambulo> yeah
[22:55:40] <noctambulo> probably the last one
[22:55:44] <deep42thought> ok :-)
[22:56:06] <deep42thought> so: what errors are you getting?
[22:57:13] <noctambulo> core.db file not recognized
[22:57:22] <noctambulo> for example
[22:57:37] <noctambulo> and other repositories database files not being recognized neither
[22:57:52] <noctambulo> i erased sync folder and didn't work
[22:58:30] <noctambulo> anyway if the iso was working last time it doesn't have nothing to do with the setup, since after that i tried in the archlinux iso setup without sucess
[22:58:47] <deep42thought> yeah
[22:59:01] <deep42thought> it might be a mirror serving out the symlink instead of resolving it or something
[22:59:22] <deep42thought> can you check if /var/lib/pacman/sync/*.db are regular files?
[22:59:44] <deep42thought> and probably list their content with 'tar -tzf /var/lib/pacman/sync/core.db'?
[22:59:58] <noctambulo> i could, but i already deleted the arch installation for installing a new copy with the archiso that didn't work
[23:00:16] <noctambulo> so i'm in lubuntu right now
[23:01:12] <noctambulo> unless my ISP is blocking servers i shouldn't be the only one with this issue
[23:01:37] <deep42thought> indeed
[23:02:11] <noctambulo> and the key check files were annoying a lot too
[23:02:21] <noctambulo> specially gpg
[23:02:41] <deep42thought> you mean signature errors?
[23:02:45] <noctambulo> yeah
[23:02:58] <noctambulo> the gay pg files
[23:03:01] <noctambulo> gpg
[23:03:03] <deep42thought> :-D
[23:03:59] <deep42thought> I guess, the files (database and/or packages) were modified somewhere between the master mirror and your pacman
[23:04:15] <deep42thought> either a bad ethernet connection, some isp mangling or who knows what
[23:05:10] <deep42thought> next time, try https://mirror.archlinux32.org - it's the mirror master
[23:05:11] <phrik> Title:Index of / (at mirror.archlinux32.org)
[23:05:29] <deep42thought> maybe some of the other mirrors has accumulated some dust :-)
[23:05:34] <noctambulo> why rankmirrors doesn't come in the 32 bits iso by default?
[23:06:14] <deep42thought> do we even have rankmirrors for 32 bit?
[23:06:27] <deep42thought> we do have reflector32
[23:06:33] <deep42thought> but I guess, it's not on the iso either
[23:07:31] <deep42thought> ah, rankmirrors is in pacman-contrib
[23:10:33] <deep42thought> oh, I even patched it to recognize our mirror format :-)
[23:10:54] <deep42thought> does the 64 bit iso come with rankmirrors by default?
[23:11:09] <noctambulo> unless they changed it yes
[23:11:50] <noctambulo> last time i used it before the desktop computer burnt because of sucky electricity service
[23:12:40] <deep42thought> I think, rankmirrors went off the iso when pacman-contrib was splitt off pacman some months ago
[23:12:53] <deep42thought> and this is valid on i686 and x86_64 alike
[23:13:04] -!- isacdaavid has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[23:13:18] <noctambulo> but 64 bits iso had a intel lvds boot timeout issue, that's why i switched to 32 bits, and because it's faster
[23:18:35] <noctambulo> anyway i didn't need rankmirrors last time i installer the 32 bits archiso
[23:18:54] <noctambulo> download speed was smooth
[23:19:49] <deep42thought> abaumann: I found the bug \o/ (it's on my end)
[23:24:40] <noctambulo> if you open "http://arlm.tyzoid.com/$repo/os/$arch" in the web browser is supposed to work?
[23:24:47] <deep42thought> no
[23:24:54] <deep42thought> you need to replace $repo and $arch
[23:25:10] <deep42thought> e.g. http://arlm.tyzoid.com
[23:25:43] <deep42thought> $arch would be i686 for 32-bit
[23:26:01] <noctambulo> so arch does it after reading the pacman.conf file architecture parameter
[23:26:11] <deep42thought> exactly
[23:27:30] <noctambulo> why the core repo only has a x86_64 folder?
[23:27:57] <deep42thought> because tyzoid's arch32 mirror is at a differnt subdomain
[23:28:27] <deep42thought> have a look at our mirrorlist: https://git.archlinux32.org
[23:28:28] <phrik> Title:archlinux32/packages: Package customizations and pure-i686 packages - Archlinux32 Gitea (at git.archlinux32.org)
[23:28:42] <deep42thought> https://32.arlm.tyzoid.com
[23:30:12] <noctambulo> well, i entered there in the i686 core repo folder
[23:30:25] <noctambulo> despite it takes some seconds to load still opens
[23:33:49] <buildmaster> i686/profont is broken (says nlopc46).
[23:33:52] <buildmaster> i686/python2-trollius is broken (says rechenknecht).
[23:34:08] <buildmaster> i686/opendesktop-fonts is broken (says nlopc43).
[23:34:26] <buildmaster> i686/bcprov is broken (says eurobuild3).
[23:34:30] <deep42thought> noctambulo: does pacman work if you use that mirror?
[23:34:46] <buildmaster> i686/eclipse-ecj is broken (says buildknecht2).
[23:34:47] <deep42thought> or if not: What's the first error which pacman prints?
[23:35:01] <deep42thought> buildmaster: shut up
[23:35:02] <buildmaster> Sorry, I will do.
[23:35:31] <noctambulo> haha, relax folks
[23:35:44] <deep42thought> it's just a bot
[23:36:19] <deep42thought> and I just fixed a bug which kept back a lot of "package $x is broken" messages
[23:36:51] <noctambulo> i see
[23:38:12] <noctambulo> i don't have a lot of time using arch
[23:38:22] <noctambulo> but i like how pure it is
[23:38:45] <noctambulo> because other systems come with lots of garbage packages
[23:39:40] <noctambulo> and installation is not so long as it looks like
[23:39:43] <deep42thought> yeah - also I don't like the attitude of debian based systems: huh, you just installed sshd? Let me start it for you right away, before you have a chance to configure it
[23:42:04] <noctambulo> the problem with arch is people make it look long because installation manuals are a mess
[23:43:09] <noctambulo> arch is just about installing first and configuring afer, but most of manuals do steps randomly
[23:44:00] <noctambulo> maybe people with good memory wouldn't care, but i have an old man memory so i have to note everything
[23:54:10] <deep42thought> I cannot say, that the arch manuals are particularly chaotic
[23:54:35] <deep42thought> only guide I couldn't follow, so far, is the how-to-set-up-an-email-server guide
[23:55:08] <noctambulo> obviously i had to follow them, but at the end i made my own steps text file ordering everything
[23:55:10] <deep42thought> but maybe that's just my normal bias: everything I did is trivial, and everything I failed to do is not accomplishable at all
[23:56:36] <deep42thought> anyway, it's time for my bed - good night!
[23:56:45] <noctambulo> good night
[23:56:48] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
