[08:09:09] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[08:09:09] <buildmaster> !rq deep42thought
[08:09:10] <phrik> buildmaster: <deep42thought> doesn't one usually try to avoid rust on metals?
[08:10:32] <deep42thought> thePiGrepper: we had issues with the isos on virtual hosts (not sure if it was vbox, though) - but if you're only interested in _running_ arch32 (not actually trying the install process) you can try tyzoid's vagrant image
[08:11:15] <deep42thought> other thant that, you can try some pre-2018-02 image (I think) from archive.archlinux32.org
[08:23:23] <deep42thought> hmmm, gcc on i486 fails some tests :-(
[08:26:45] <buildmaster> i686/systemd is broken (says buildknecht).
[08:31:47] -!- guys has quit [Ping timeout: 240 seconds]
[08:46:26] <deep42thought> ah, no, it fails in package_gcc() :-/
[08:53:14] <deep42thought> "checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu"
[08:53:28] <deep42thought> shouldn't that be a "i486-pc-linux-gnu" on i486?
[09:10:17] * deep42thought is tempted to remove /usr/bin/uname from archlinux32 on i486
[09:27:34] <buildmaster> i686/gcc is broken (says nlopc46).
[10:29:04] <deep42thought> abaumann: the i486 bootstrap mirror gives me 503s now

[12:06:58] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[12:06:58] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[12:06:59] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> Maybe we should convert Rust to C using a Go to Vala transpiler written in Ocaml?
[12:07:05] <deep42thought> Hi abaumann!
[12:07:09] <abaumann> hi deep42thought
[12:07:29] <abaumann> yeah. my mirror decided to shut down when it was building systemd in a chroot.. no clue, what happened.
[12:07:49] <abaumann> ..and half my flat has no power anymore since yesterday *grmpf*
[12:07:53] <deep42thought> luckily, gcc seems to build w/o your bootstrap repositories
[12:08:10] <deep42thought> so they moved the power cables _away_?
[12:08:29] <abaumann> I don't know what they did, that's part of the problem: lack of proper information..
[12:08:49] <abaumann> this uname madness is annoying..
[12:08:54] <deep42thought> yeah
[12:09:11] <deep42thought> I briefly considered serving hacked linux kernels for i486
[12:09:28] <deep42thought> which have the "i486" hard coded
[12:09:29] <abaumann> There was this LFS module emulating the proper values for /proc/cpuinfo and friends.
[12:10:21] <abaumann> I have to find it again. It's no longer officially needed, so it got moved to some obscure mirror, I think.
[12:13:15] <abaumann> I fixed some issues with systemd, hope all is well now..
[12:13:53] <deep42thought> yeah, I saw
[12:44:04] -!- abaumann has quit [Quit: Page closed]
[12:46:18] <thePiGrepper> deep42thought: I booted from the latest ISO(august I believe), and it booted just fine. that wasnt the issue. it's related to the linux package itself.up to 16.x it worked just fine, since around 17.3 it stopped during boot
[12:52:34] <buildmaster> i686/libmusicxml is broken (says rechenknecht).

[14:53:19] <deep42thought> thePiGrepper: strange, I'm running a virtualbox vm of archlinux32, myself without issues on 4.18.16 kernel
[14:53:29] <deep42thought> ... or is "vbox" != "virtualbox"?
[15:09:39] <buildmaster> i686/gitlab is broken (says nlopc46).
[15:20:50] -!- guys has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
[15:27:10] <thePiGrepper> deep42thought: vbox _is_ virtualbox. strange. and the weirder thing is that it happened with a new installation, as well as with an old one after updating...
[15:27:32] <deep42thought> maybe some incompatibility with the host?
[15:27:39] <deep42thought> e.g. "what's your host?"
[15:47:52] -!- deep42thought has quit [Quit: Leaving.]
[16:00:52] <thePiGrepper> a ryzen 7 1700
[16:02:19] <thePiGrepper> the only test that occurs to me is testing another distro with a 32bit kernel from 17.* or newer. the other test would be building a custom kernel to see what happens, although that wont solve it, I believe.
