[20:39:29] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[20:39:30] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> huh. then I suddenly have to finish and maintain it. ;-)
[20:39:36] <abaumann> girls: https://wiki.archlinux.org
[20:39:37] <phrik> Title: Official repositories web interface - ArchWiki (at wiki.archlinux.org)

[21:55:49] <phrik> buildmaster: <tyzoid> i ned halp geting antergose instaled. any1 halp plox?
[22:21:35] -!- MrBIOS has quit [Quit: MrBIOS]
[22:45:01] <buildmaster> pentium4/curaengine is broken (says rechenknecht).
[22:53:31] -!- ahuillet has joined #archlinux32
[22:53:51] <ahuillet> the switch to pentium4 means that PKGBUILDs from AUR need to be edited, because makepkg will puke on i686
[22:54:02] <ahuillet> any thoughts on that?
[22:59:23] -!- MrBIOS has joined #archlinux32
[23:01:09] -!- bill-auger has quit [Quit: https://quassel-irc.org - Chat comfortably. Anywhere.]
[23:02:01] -!- bill-auger has joined #archlinux32
[23:02:14] <girls> ahuillet: this argument also works the other way round
[23:02:30] <ahuillet> what do you mean?
[23:02:32] -!- eschwartz has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
[23:02:51] <girls> if we would have introduced "i586" which is i686 w/o sse2, then the PKGBUILDs would need to be adopted for that
[23:03:06] <ahuillet> yes...?
[23:03:28] <ahuillet> I'm not complaining, I can do the change easily enough, I had just not realized that problem would happen
[23:04:05] <girls> one cannot introduce a new arch without need to change PKGBUILDs of arch!="any"
[23:04:17] <girls> so this is the bullet we had to bite
[23:04:41] <ahuillet> what was the motivation behind pentium4 btw? that more apps require SSE2 these days?
[23:05:29] <girls> my motto: i486, i686 and pentium4 are equally-official architectures: namely no archlinux architectures, but archlinux32 architectures
[23:05:58] <girls> the motivation was that many apps do not build w/o sse2 and that many users actually do have sse2
[23:06:31] <girls> but since i486 is waaayyy incomplete, we did not want to drop those without sse2 to i486
[23:06:38] <girls> (those users)
[23:11:30] <elibrokeit> ahuillet: you do the same thing you do when it doesn't list i686 either
[23:12:02] <bill-auger> ahuillet: thats not a real problem as you are lamenying - AUR packages are intended to be modified by the user
[23:12:13] <elibrokeit> (namely, makepkg --ignorearch)
[23:12:53] <bill-auger> right and most new PKGBUILD in the AUR are likely to only target x86_64 by default - the ones that still have i686 have probably been there for a long time
[23:14:00] <elibrokeit> aside: ahuillet, abaumann, I discussed the python "test" module stuff with Felix Yan, and although some software does actually depend on this "for internal use only" module, we're considering making it into a split package, e.g. python and python-testsuite or something
[23:14:18] <elibrokeit> this would result in 50% savings on the install footprint, which is nice.
[23:14:48] <girls> yeah, sounds nice
[23:14:51] <ahuillet> +1
[23:15:10] <abaumann> more room for go tests on my compact flash drive. ;-)
[23:15:46] <elibrokeit> lol
