[08:31:41] <deep42thought> "No space left on device" ... I just removed 64G pacman cache files :-D

[12:00:59] <djmoch> so, i see perl 5.30 is in pentium4/core now, but i'm a bit unsure about upgrading because "checkupdates | grep 'perl-' | wc -l
[12:01:16] <djmoch> that yields 26 packages
[12:01:34] <deep42thought> I moved perl-5.30 to stable
[12:01:39] <djmoch> while "pacman -Q | grep 'perl-' | wc -l" yields 38
[12:01:43] <deep42thought> and all perl-* packages that were already available
[12:02:17] <djmoch> right, but unless i'm misunderstanding something i think some of the perl packages are probably still built against 5.28
[12:02:27] <deep42thought> yes, most probably
[12:02:30] <deep42thought> let me check which ...
[12:03:04] <djmoch> i can generate a partial list if you'd like, just going off what i actually have installed
[12:04:16] <deep42thought> yes, it would be good to see if I have everything right in the database
[12:04:38] <deep42thought> I have: https://buildmaster.archlinux32.org
[12:12:57] <djmoch> here's what i have installed that doesn't currently have an update for 5.30: http://ix.io
[12:14:03] -!- quequotion has joined #archlinux32
[12:14:21] <djmoch> definitely some overlap there, which is good
[12:15:22] <deep42thought> yeah, but also some packages missing on my list
[12:15:29] * deep42thought dives into the database
[12:22:23] <deep42thought> hmm, this info is not in the database at least since 2018-11-19 (the first dump currently available to me) ...
[12:24:02] <deep42thought> the resp. code was added in september 2018, so I guess, the package is older and we have to accept the fact that the buildmaster cannot possibly know about the perl version dependency :-(
[12:25:02] <djmoch> sorry, but i don't follow
[12:25:23] <djmoch> you're saying some of the packages on my list aren't in your database?
[12:25:32] <deep42thought> the packages are
[12:25:42] <deep42thought> but not the info on which perl version they depend
[12:25:49] <djmoch> ah
[12:26:20] <deep42thought> so the buildmaster did not know it would break dependencies when moving them and (more important, currently) it would not know they were broken right now and should be rebuilt / priorized / ...
[12:26:33] <deep42thought> s/moving them/moving perl/
[12:26:34] <djmoch> makes sense
[12:28:08] <djmoch> gotta run. thanks for all the help!
[12:28:21] <deep42thought> thanks for reporting!
[12:29:20] <deep42thought> ah, perl-json-any was removed upstream :-)

[15:13:06] <buildmaster> !rq buildmaster
[15:13:06] <phrik> buildmaster: <buildmaster> I might be insane, but never confused ... ;-)
[15:30:08] <deep42thought> uargh, tyzoid's build key expired a few days ago ...
[15:30:13] <deep42thought> why didn't we notice?
[15:46:48] <tirsek> Channel and community newbie here ... About this perl 5.30 thing. I'm on i686, and for a few days, pacman has been wanting to upgrade perl-html-parser to 3.72-8.0, but that package is built against perl 5.30, but perl itself is only at 5.28. I just downgrade that package after an update, but I assume something needs rebuilt.
[15:47:07] <deep42thought> perl needs a move
[15:47:28] <deep42thought> but I broke several perl-* packages when I did this on pentium4
[15:47:36] <deep42thought> so I hesitate to do the same on i686 :-/
[15:49:40] * deep42thought breaks perl-* packages on i686 now, too
[15:53:23] <tirsek> :-) ... I've had Linux on the same Pentium III 600 MHz box for the better part of 15 years now, and I'm so happy to have found Arch about a year ago. I ran Gentoo for the longest time, but especially on old hardware, having to build everything from source constantly is just too much.
[15:53:55] <deep42thought> yeah, I tried to compile a kernel on bare metal i686 once - I know what you mean :-D
[16:04:20] <deep42thought> ok, looks like /most/ perl packages are rebuilt against 5.30
[16:04:35] <deep42thought> "only" 23 need to be built
[16:04:45] <deep42thought> ... some of which as unimportant as subversion :-D
