[07:59:35] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[07:59:35] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[07:59:36] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> So, very soon the next build tool will be written in go, thus requiring packaging all unit tests of go, just because nobody is able to split the package into things worth deploying and things used during development?
[08:00:03] -!- thePiGrepper has quit [Ping timeout: 245 seconds]
[08:00:50] <abaumann> deep42thought: I agree, we should not just simply skip over non-building packages. When we accumulate too many of them, then we risk the distribution (see Java, Rust)
[08:01:25] <abaumann> it's better to detect problems early and then to fix, ignore checks, remove bindings or blacklist packages then to get a clear picture of the situation
[08:01:52] <abaumann> also: testing is hardly used at all, people complain, when I do a bold move and push to stable only.
[08:02:30] <abaumann> this is the vicious cycle of "no testting", "no move to stable", "keep old versions of packages"
[08:02:45] <abaumann> this is something we can do in the archive, but not in a bleeding edge distribution
[08:03:18] <abaumann> so, I rather like to risk sometimes the stability of stable a little bit than not to publish any packages for weeks.
[08:03:40] -!- thePiGrepper has joined #archlinux32
[08:04:41] <abaumann> Archlinux users I always considered to be flexible people: if GUIs don't work, use text mode, if my belowed login manager doesn't work, pick another one, if my desktop environment crashes, use fvwm
[08:05:08] <abaumann> and most importantly: find and fix problems on your own.
[08:09:51] <abaumann> mmh. half of KDE now got unblocked.. some xfce too.. but not all..
[08:09:54] * abaumann is testing
[08:17:39] <abaumann> I still don't understand why systemd-resolved fails in testing and works in both stable and staging..
[08:22:34] <abaumann> xfce4 starts baloo?
[08:22:48] <abaumann> yeah, this desktop also goes in a very wrong direction..
[08:26:32] <abaumann> mmh. a lot of stuff in GUIs is not running because of powerd
[08:26:38] <abaumann> upower.service to be more precise
[08:29:28] <abaumann> ha. finally I can retrigger the libreoffice rebuild (now we have Java again
[08:36:26] -!- nit-picker has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[08:36:48] -!- nit-picker has joined #archlinux32
[08:48:23] <abaumann> java-envorenment=8 in libreoffice, but I get errors:
[08:48:24] <abaumann> error: Source option 6 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
[08:48:25] <abaumann> error: Target option 6 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
[08:48:44] <abaumann> So, are parts of libreoffice built against 1.6?
[08:48:52] * abaumann heads to 64-bit to check..
[08:49:29] <abaumann> I'll apply the https://gitlab.com patch to gnutls, hope this fixes the loading problems of systemd-resolved
[08:49:30] <phrik> Title: wrong text relocations on i386 due to non-PIC assembly (#818) · Issues · gnutls / GnuTLS · GitLab (at gitlab.com)
[08:51:14] * abaumann remebers a text relocation detection page in Archlinux32
[08:57:50] <abaumann> mmh. this will be a problem, if Ubuntu and Debian will drop 32-bit support, I fear there is a much smaller chance, that we few people here find such a bug..
[09:03:48] -!- deep42thought has joined #archlinux32
[09:03:48] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[09:03:48] <buildmaster> !rq deep42thought
[09:03:49] <phrik> buildmaster: <deep42thought> "und wieder ist ein Tag vollbracht und wieder ist nur Murks gemacht"
[09:04:02] <deep42thought> good morning, abaumann!
[09:04:18] <abaumann> morning deep42thought
[09:04:57] <deep42thought> packages should be automatically marked as "tested" after 7 days or so
[09:05:00] <abaumann> quite a busy morning - self-inflicted. :-)
[09:05:23] <deep42thought> but it might be too long, until then dependent packages might be drippling in and blocking the move again
[09:06:40] <deep42thought> "Operation too slow. Less than 1 bytes/sec transferred the last 10 seconds" ... this is on the same host as the mirror, goddammit - how can this be "too slow"?
[09:06:56] <abaumann> I really hate this feature in pacman.
[09:07:03] <abaumann> At least there should be an option to switch it off
[09:07:31] <deep42thought> there might be one
[09:07:34] <abaumann> it hits me constantly on older machines hanging on a 10Mbit/s switch
[09:07:39] <deep42thought> in the end, the downloader is freely configurable
[09:07:48] <abaumann> true
[09:08:39] <abaumann> my problem with testing is more: nobody tests. :-)
[09:08:53] <abaumann> if we push more often to stable, we get more broken things, but not a big one like now
[09:09:16] <deep42thought> I do test
[09:09:19] <deep42thought> and you do, too
[09:09:37] <abaumann> yeah. but not all 20'000 combinations of desktops and login managers and graphic cards.
[09:10:23] <deep42thought> I don't test graphics at all on arch32 :-/
[09:11:14] <abaumann> but all the rest. :-)
[09:11:45] * abaumann waves goodbye to the archlinux32.org buildmaster webpage
[09:12:02] <deep42thought> sry, kernel update
[09:12:05] <abaumann> :-)
[09:15:54] <deep42thought> should be back
[09:16:11] <abaumann> (y)
[09:25:29] <deep42thought> abaumann: did you move the rest of xfce, too?
[09:25:33] <deep42thought> https://bbs.archlinux32.org
[09:25:34] <phrik> Title: Xfce 4.14 / Pacman / Pacman Upgrades / Arch Linux 32 Forums (at bbs.archlinux32.org)
[09:27:15] <abaumann> yeah. xfce is roally borked ATM
[09:27:29] <deep42thought> ok, all fine, then ;-)
[09:27:38] <abaumann> I pushed XFCE out the door, but it got stuck in rebuilds
[09:27:57] <abaumann> why xfconf got published breaking xfce, I don't know
[09:28:12] <abaumann> it should not have been pushed, even in a db-update -p
[09:29:50] <abaumann> xfce4-powrer-manager has linking issues (and the gnutls upowerd thingy)
[09:30:25] <abaumann> xfce starts baloo and some akonadi stuff, so it leaves the trail of lightweight..
[09:30:46] <abaumann> panel, wm. ok
[09:30:56] <abaumann> cries for some forced builds
[09:41:20] <deep42thought> what does `seed-build-list -a` suggest?
[09:41:30] <deep42thought> (preferably with -n first)
[09:42:38] <abaumann> displaycal passenger
[09:43:25] <deep42thought> what I meant was not for you to post the output, but rather simply to run `seed-build-list -a` once you checked that it did not reschedule too much
[09:43:35] <abaumann> ah. :-)
[09:43:47] <abaumann> sorry - too much parallelity makes my brain mushy ;-)

[14:03:24] <T`aZ> i
[14:03:39] <T`aZ> it seems the linux headers is at 5.2.9 but the kernel is still at 5.2.6
[14:03:57] <T`aZ> ensuring massive breakage with dkms etc :'(
[14:27:50] -!- thePiGrepper has joined #archlinux32
[14:28:14] <deep42thought> I knew it would make trouble ...
[14:32:46] <T`aZ> well, i downgraded to 5.2.6, reinstalled the nvidia module & regen initramfs, reboot time, hope it wont panic this time :s
[14:33:03] -!- T`aZ has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
[14:40:52] -!- T`aZ has joined #archlinux32
[14:41:27] <T`aZ> hmm, turns out, it still panics with "initramfs: broken padding" , hopefully still works with fallback :s
[15:15:43] <T`aZ> somehow my inirtd entry in grub now loads the intel-ucode.img, wtf
[15:18:11] <deep42thought> microcode
[15:18:19] <deep42thought> you do not have an intel cpu?
[15:23:55] <T`aZ> i do
[15:24:05] <deep42thought> ok, then this is a feature
[15:24:20] <deep42thought> grub-mkconfig will add this to load the microcode updates from intel
[15:24:32] <deep42thought> I'm not sure, how useful this is on old cpus
[15:24:33] <T`aZ> as part of the initrd option ?
[15:24:36] <deep42thought> yes
[15:24:45] <T`aZ> ok, so im on a bad track, thanks !
[15:25:13] <deep42thought> on x86_64, I have "initrd /boot/intel-ucode.img /boot/initramfs-linux.img"
[15:25:22] <deep42thought> in grub.cfg
[15:26:39] <T`aZ> and on x86 ?
[15:27:23] <deep42thought> sry, don't have an intel x86 handy
[15:27:32] <T`aZ> also, the grub config scripts: omfg
[15:27:37] <deep42thought> yeah
[15:28:35] <T`aZ> lemme try to test it anyway, dont have time to look further today anyway :/

[15:37:19] -!- T`aZ has joined #archlinux32
[15:38:02] <T`aZ> well, removeinf the ucode.img entry solved the issue
[15:38:32] <T`aZ> so i guess something is broken regarding grub2, intel-ucode & initrd loading
[15:38:45] <T`aZ> on x86 only, obviously :(
[15:42:53] <T`aZ> and now my xfce4-session doesn't finish loading
[15:43:03] <T`aZ> the whole world is borked today
[15:46:12] <T`aZ> xfwm4: error while loading shared libraries: libxfconf-0.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
[15:46:45] <T`aZ> at least it explains why it's not working :D

[16:25:33] <abaumann> T`aZ: xfce is hopefully fixed soon..
[16:27:53] <T`aZ> ok, thx for your hardwork guys anyway :)

[16:36:33] <abaumann> thanks for using and testing. :-)
[16:56:32] <abaumann> splendid, now the systemd-resolved bug propagated everywhere. fixing gnutls didn't help, now for the systemd-resolved service fix

[17:38:42] <buildmaster> Hi deep42thought!
[17:38:42] <buildmaster> !rq deep42thought
[17:38:43] <phrik> buildmaster: <deep42thought> ah, maybe, borg is borged, too
[17:53:24] <abaumann> hi deep42thought
[17:53:30] <deep42thought> Hi abaumann!
[17:53:38] <deep42thought> did I break anything while moving the kernel?
[17:53:46] <abaumann> I don't think so.
[17:53:52] <deep42thought> \o/
[17:53:56] <abaumann> Didn't notice anything
[17:54:18] <abaumann> deep42thought
[17:54:21] <abaumann> aeh.
[17:54:24] <abaumann> copy-paste
[17:54:29] <abaumann> libxfce4ui
[17:54:49] <abaumann> more linking issues in xfce
[17:54:56] <abaumann> on staging I get half of a desktop now :-)
[17:54:59] <deep42thought> ah, right, I saw
[17:55:08] <deep42thought> the better half, I hope
[17:55:19] <abaumann> well..
[17:55:25] * abaumann whistles
[17:55:33] <abaumann> gnutls is also quite stuborn.
[17:55:45] <abaumann> make doesn't execute perl which regenerates the assembly code.
[17:56:03] <abaumann> I patched now in the Debian/Ubuntu too to get rid of the hard-coded TEXTRELOCS
[17:56:16] <abaumann> *Debian/Ubuntu-style
[17:56:49] <deep42thought> removing precompiled files sometimes also helps
[17:57:03] <abaumann> yeah. but you risk they get wrongly generated
[17:57:32] <abaumann> or you need autoconf 2.15 suddenly
[17:57:38] <deep42thought> how can regenerating something ever be wrong ;-)
[17:58:12] <abaumann> if nothing helps, I just patch systemd-resolved.service and disable the secure loading there
[18:06:41] -!- titus_livius has joined #archlinux32
[18:06:56] <abaumann> nit-picker hickups? ;-)
[18:07:04] <abaumann> mr-hickup
[18:07:39] * abaumann refers to the somewhat disturbing cartoon for kids called Mr. Hiccup
[18:08:42] <abaumann> Italians have a weird humour: another cartoon is about a dragon who wants to be a firefighter and yet another is a man with a dog, both do psycodelic trips and experiments
[18:09:54] <abaumann> "Herr Rossi sucht das Glueck" :-)
[18:10:16] <abaumann> "Grisu"
[18:11:00] <deep42thought> Bruno Bozzetto ... this name rings a bell
[18:12:38] <deep42thought> ah, yes, indeed, I have seen a few animations from him :-D

[19:54:23] <deep42thought> will do
[19:54:58] <deep42thought> but let me help put the little terrorists to bed, first ...
[19:55:31] <eschwartz> !grab "deep42thought"
[19:55:31] <phrik> eschwartz: Tada!
[19:57:49] <eschwartz> abaumann: the only hiccup for kids I heard of was Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, who Became a Hero The Hard Way and wasn't very disturbing particularly.
[19:58:08] <eschwartz> I should note that I read the books before the movie became cool.
[20:02:50] -!- thePiGrepper has quit [Ping timeout: 258 seconds]
[20:15:35] <abaumann> eschwartz: now that's a Hiccup completely unknown to me :-)
[20:43:51] <deep42thought> new devtools32 release coming in :-)
[20:54:32] <abaumann> cool :-)
[20:57:37] <abaumann> juck. xfce looks like mate now
[20:57:43] <eschwartz> deep42thought: funky stuff here: https://git.archlinux32.org
[20:57:44] <phrik> Title: archlinux32/devtools32: Fork of devtools from archlinux.org with small modifications to compile i486 and i686 from our repositories - Archlinux32 Gitea (at git.archlinux32.org)
[20:59:08] <abaumann> weird: I force build xfdesktop and libxfceui4. i686 arrived, pentium4 not..
[20:59:54] <abaumann> because xfce4 on i686 is almost ok now in stable
[21:00:10] <abaumann> xfce4 on pentium4 starts, but has some hickups
[21:02:13] <abaumann> ah. push typo :-)
[21:07:04] <deep42thought> eschwartz: I thougt no merge conflicts meant, everything was ok :-D
[21:08:38] <deep42thought> those duplicate lines are *both* from you O.o
[21:10:03] <eschwartz> deep42thought: the original patch is just those duplicate lines, except I did add them above, not below?
[21:10:14] <deep42thought> yeah, looks like that
[21:10:16] <eschwartz> But your version of the patch also runs --populate
[21:10:42] <eschwartz> which means you modified it yourself, instead of committing a new followup, so possibly you also misapplied my patch?
[21:12:30] * abaumann leaves for today.. more xfce fiddling for pentium4 tomorrow..
[21:12:33] -!- abaumann has quit [Quit: leaving]
