[09:22:25] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[09:22:26] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> transmission is nice software.. I'm just not able to use it, it seems :-)
[09:23:08] <abaumann> deep42thought: "tyzoid cannot give us any backups", so he made the backups to the same machine which failed? Anyways, we set up a new forum (like the Gentoo guys) and this time start acting profesionally..
[09:24:11] <abaumann> IMHO only git, forum and the build system are really important. The rest is nice-to-haves.

[09:25:13] <vboxler> or another official forum?

[09:36:47] <vboxler> hello why doesn't work dhcpcd with iso archlinux-2019.09.01-i686.iso?
[09:37:03] <vboxler> buildmaster: hello
[09:37:13] <vboxler> you are the real buldmaster?

[09:45:47] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[09:45:47] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[09:45:49] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> manually updating certificates is so.. well 1980.. :-)
[09:46:01] <abaumann> voxler: yes, there was a forum at bbs.archlinux32.org
[09:46:59] <abaumann> Also, chatlogs still get archived at http://mirror.archlinux32.org
[09:47:00] <phrik> Title: Index of /irc-logs/ (at mirror.archlinux32.org)
[09:47:11] <abaumann> so you can read the answers and what happened later when you are not online.
[09:47:59] <abaumann> about dhcpcd, I have no clue, maybe it got dropped on the ISO? There is dhclient, so you should be able to do a DHCP request or if you prefer there is 'ip', so you can define a network on your own.
[09:48:15] <abaumann> the buildmaster is a chatbot connected to the build system
[09:48:25] <abaumann> buildmaster: are you a robot?
[09:48:38] <abaumann> mmh. he is sulking.. ;-)

[10:14:00] <buildmaster> Hi abaumann!
[10:14:01] <buildmaster> !rq abaumann
[10:14:02] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> works. I receive my personal spam now ;-)
[10:19:00] <vboxler> when did we get our forum?
[10:19:31] <abaumann> hi vboxler.
[10:20:01] <vboxler> abaumann: hi, i have many problems
[10:20:05] <abaumann> I don't know, I would actually prefer to get the old one back, because there is a lot of documentation and howtos in there, I hate to Google or Wayback-machine them..
[10:20:08] <abaumann> oh.
[10:20:12] <abaumann> shot. :-)
[10:20:49] <vboxler> i use / learn archlinux32 in virutalbox
[10:21:08] <abaumann> ok.
[10:21:45] <vboxler> the guest additions don't work, with svga
[10:22:14] <abaumann> ok. didn't test lately
[10:22:33] <abaumann> and virtualbox itself breaks in many ways on 32-bit because nobody cares and maintains the 32-bit version apparently
[10:22:53] <abaumann> so, If I cannot build virtualbox itself, I cannot build the guest integrations.
[10:23:02] <vboxler> you need gcc 9.04
[10:23:08] <abaumann> why?
[10:23:09] <vboxler> it's test
[10:23:23] <vboxler> to compile the vbox module
[10:24:05] <abaumann> yeah, it's probably best to use the same kernel headers, but it should really not depend on the gcc version as long as the generated code follows the ABI standards..
[10:24:13] <abaumann> you get an error there?
[10:25:03] <vboxler> you have suggest if you change the virtualbox vm to vmvga
[10:25:40] <abaumann> I have set it to VBpxVGA
[10:25:57] <vboxler> yes i get error with the default settings form virtualbox
[10:25:58] <abaumann> most likely because I don't care about high resolutions.. :-)
[10:27:44] <vboxler> we need the forum, for documention this
[10:28:03] <abaumann> ah yes, there I agree.
[10:28:07] <vboxler> i haven many hour
[10:28:21] <vboxler> did can open a reddit forum?
[10:28:36] <abaumann> I don't like reddit as it renders slowly on old machines.
[10:28:38] <vboxler> reddit is for fallback
[10:28:56] <abaumann> we have a non-cloud-policy for our services.. actually
[10:29:01] <abaumann> no github for instance.
[10:29:09] <vboxler> i'm to, but better than nothing
[10:29:13] <abaumann> it doesn't help, if we are not able to manage our own resources though :->
[10:29:43] <abaumann> I would also put gitea back on the list for pull requests.
[10:29:47] <abaumann> of things we need.
[10:30:20] <abaumann> but I don't like to loose 2 1/2 years of forum content
[10:30:52] <vboxler> did you have read, the archlinux-2019.11.08-i686.iso is without mirrorlist
[10:31:34] <abaumann> oh. then take an older ISO, then that one is broken in many ways (mirrorlist, no dhcpcd, etc)
[10:32:09] <vboxler> the last goog workin iso is archlinux-2019.09.01-i686.iso
[10:32:41] <vboxler> dhcpcd working with archlinux-2019.11.08-i686.iso
[10:32:45] <abaumann> good to know
[10:33:18] <abaumann> I have to be frank: I never managed to build an ISO with the scripts..
[10:33:27] <vboxler> i use the my own mirrorlist from the sept 2019 iso
[10:33:38] <abaumann> I'm using pacstrap from another machine and create a bootable USB stick
[10:34:01] <abaumann> especially as the default ISO loads everything into memory and the ramdisk is far to big for the machines I'm dealing with (128MB of RAM)
[10:34:34] <abaumann> I was about to document that in the forum, BTW.. :-)
[10:36:55] <abaumann> mmh. the wayback machine stopped crawling the forum in Nov 2018.. also not a big help, but better than nothing..
[10:37:39] <abaumann> and it's basically a surface crawl with the main page, no topics underneath have been crawled.
[10:39:00] <vboxler> pity
[10:39:01] <abaumann> Where has the "cached" link disappeared in Google search results?
[10:39:12] <vboxler> but now a new start again
[10:39:49] <abaumann> oh. "Click on the green down arrow" how intuitive Google
[10:40:15] <abaumann> you are volunteering? ;-)
[10:40:31] <vboxler> i don't like google
[10:40:42] <vboxler> duckduckgo or other
[10:41:34] <abaumann> I'll try to mache a "fetch bbs/bugs from Google" script and see if we can safe some of the stuff over into a new forum
[10:42:04] <abaumann> The plan is to have some redundancy in all of this, machine-wise and human-wise
[10:42:24] <abaumann> so no "only one person runs a service and he/she only has the password'
[10:42:32] <vboxler> that's a good idea
[10:43:07] <abaumann> the problem with that so far was: many things run on personal computers, so you don't want to give away the keys to your house, obviously.
[10:43:31] <abaumann> the www.archlinux32.org and buildmaster.archlinux32.org are two hosted servers, there it's easier to organize something
[10:43:39] <vboxler> if archlinux32 have now forum, archlinx32 died
[10:44:40] <abaumann> agree here too.
[10:44:59] <abaumann> we had the situation once before and recovered.
[10:45:05] <abaumann> I'm still hoping for that.
[10:46:18] <vboxler> or can you ask archlinxu.org if archlinux32 a department get?
[10:46:59] <abaumann> no, they dropped 32-bit.
[10:47:14] <abaumann> they are already helping us a lot in the chats when we have trouble
[10:47:24] <abaumann> so I wouldn't ask them for resources.
[10:47:56] <abaumann> btw, we have enough resources (machines), we just need to ensure redundancy and backups done properly
[10:49:06] <abaumann> I get 30*10 forum pages from the Google webcache, now, how to script the damn thing..
[10:49:09] <vboxler> archlinux32 and debian the last goot 32bit disto's
[10:50:48] <abaumann> don't forget Gentoo :-)
[10:50:52] <abaumann> but thanks.
[10:51:35] * abaumann thinks the Google webcache runs from tapes or WORMS.. :-)
[10:52:56] <abaumann> Chromes way of naming downloads taps on my nerves (download or search.html)
