[01:31:37] <KScottDB> i figured out the issue, it was apparently some sql thing being too new. i ended up not using the package that required it

[07:01:52] <phrik> buildmaster: <abaumann> again. I'm in favour of a database which is not dropping its pants..
[07:02:52] <abaumann> KScottDB: https://aur.archlinux.org but whether that archaic package really builds with a modern compiler?

[19:43:35] <eschwartz> abaumann, deep42thought: what's the current status of the ICU package rebuilds?
[19:45:24] <eschwartz> note that I've been helping bill-auger and GNUtoo engineer a fix for their custom packages built against ICU, which depends on having the new provides=() in the arch ICU package -- so getting this done soon would help them sync and unify this fix for i686 as well
[19:46:16] <eschwartz> e.g. see https://lists.parabola.nu
[19:46:17] <phrik> Title: [Dev] Providing compatibility libraries to reduce breakages (icu, poppler) (at lists.parabola.nu)
[20:25:03] <girls> oh, this feature is, what I have been waiting for for a year or so :-)
[20:28:48] <girls> we have the new icu in staging
[20:28:58] <girls> question is: why was it now moved
[20:32:43] <girls> s/now/not/
[20:47:47] <buildmaster> pentium4/geary is broken (says nlopc46): https://archlinux32.org
[20:58:17] <buildmaster> any/words are broken (says nlopc46): https://archlinux32.org
[21:06:12] * buildmaster failed to execute a mysql query - can you have a look at "tmp.mysql-functions.query.2020-05-05T21:03:59.1VaAWL.stdin"?.
[21:06:18] <girls> O.o
[21:07:48] <girls> indeed: a bug
[21:10:03] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
[21:10:03] <T`aZ> eschwartz: awesome
[21:10:41] <buildmaster> pentium4/gnucash is broken (says eurobuild6-4) - already flagged out-of-date upstream on 2020-04-12: https://archlinux32.org
[21:11:08] <eschwartz> girls: note that it adds libicu*.so provides, but that doesn't make archlinux PKGBUILDs add the depends to other packages
[21:11:18] <girls> yes
[21:11:20] <girls> this is perfect
[21:12:10] <girls> I asked to do this once, but it was rejected back then - I wanted to add depends=(libwhatever.so) to *my* aur packages, so I would not break my mailserver on any updates (again)
[21:12:28] <girls> btw: can you remind me of the command to check the linking of installed packages, again, please?
[21:12:49] <girls> lddd?
[21:13:01] <eschwartz> readelf -d /path/to/thing | grep NEEDED, or, https://github.com ./foo.pkg.tar.xz libicu

[21:13:26] <eschwartz> or oh, lddd too
[21:14:11] * buildmaster goes insane.
[21:14:15] <girls> bah
[21:16:11] <girls> buildmaster: pull yourself together!
[21:16:12] <buildmaster> I will check my sanity again.
[21:43:12] * buildmaster resumes sanity.
