[19:44:07] <phrik> Title: install valgrind, Fatal error at startup - Stack Overflow (at stackoverflow.com)
[19:44:23] <KillerWasp> i have this problem in arch32. How to fix it?
[19:46:07] <KitsuWhooa> no idea

[19:47:37] <KillerWasp> but never i get the solution...

[22:17:27] <KillerWasp> Tom Hughes: This is an issue with your system, not with valgrind, as explained in the very detailed error message.
[22:17:27] <KillerWasp> You either need to install the debug symbols for glibc or you need to persuade your distribution to be less aggressive about stripping symbols from the dynamic linker - they are needed for valgrind and there is nothing we can do to avoid needing them.
[22:17:57] <KillerWasp> LOL! You guys! why are very aggresive with your system?? 🙁
[22:19:27] -!- bdju has quit [Ping timeout: 276 seconds]
[22:20:19] <KillerWasp> well, at least i understand something more. Seem i need a debug info from glibc.\
[22:21:15] <KillerWasp> i need the debug info from glibc, but where i get from the arch32?
[22:30:06] <KillerWasp> where i can find the real PKGBUILD for valgrind that's used in arch32?
[22:30:48] <bill-auger> KillerWasp: it looks like they do not make them - for all 3 arches combined, i see a total of 92 debug packages
[22:31:26] <bill-auger> "the real PKGBUILD" is the one from arch - then in some cases, there is an additional script which patches the arch PKGBUILD in-place
[22:32:39] <bill-auger> IIRC, most packages do not need any special patching, other than adding i486, i686, or pentium4 to the arch=() array
[22:34:58] <bill-auger> you can see them on the packages website - "Upstream's Source Files" is the arch PKGBUILD - "Archlinux32's Source Files" is the arch32 patch for that PKGBUILD
[22:40:27] <gehidore> KillerWasp rebuild glibc with symbols yourself?
[22:41:19] <KillerWasp> gehidore: that's different from glibc of the system, what if the table of pointers are all wrong?
[22:42:24] <gehidore> wut?
[22:42:44] <KillerWasp> also glibc is the core of the system, like all are exploding if i use two glibc at the same time. Sure?
[22:42:50] <gehidore> >issue in arch32 > glibc has no symbols: ergo rebuild it with symbols from the arch32 pkgbuild?
[22:43:07] <KillerWasp> mmmm....
[22:43:09] <gehidore> you'd replace core glibc with the one you built :)
[22:43:40] <KillerWasp> aaaaawwwww..... that's scareeee.... 😭
[22:44:09] <gehidore> fine, you find me the arch32 PKGBUILD and I"ll build the turd for you
[22:44:36] <KillerWasp> I already have nightmares of systems being killed by glibc.
[22:45:06] <gehidore> how would it kill it though?
[22:45:12] <KillerWasp> gehidore: no, thanks. Because i must run it anyway.
[22:45:23] -!- bdju has joined #archlinux32
[22:45:23] <gehidore> do you not have the means to boot a recovery environment and then install the old glibc via chroot?
[22:45:46] <gehidore> alrighty, ping me if you want it built and have the current PKGBUILD for the version you want
[22:45:52] <gehidore> KillerWasp ^
[22:45:54] <gehidore> cheers
[22:45:58] <KillerWasp> gehidore: exist several ways for destry your system by glibc, one of them is with downgrade
[22:49:18] <KillerWasp> gehidore: one way that i can think is export all the debug info and try with --extra-debug-info-path....
[22:49:54] <KillerWasp> i;m rest something.
[23:02:48] <KillerWasp> the Linux LTS is still broken, can't init the kernel and don't reach the login.
[23:04:10] <KillerWasp> later of checksum are stuck without appear the login, only apear a red line of dots in right bottom.
[23:08:28] <gehidore> the idea of "destroy your system" infers permanent damage
[23:09:13] <socksins1> with enough glibc anything is possible ;P
[23:09:52] <KillerWasp> gehidore: yes. Every time it broke it was unrecoverable and I had to delete the partition and reinstall everything again.
[23:10:40] <gehidore> I fail to see how unless you somehow forced something filesystem related to do an operation it didn't want to with a bad glibc
[23:10:55] <gehidore> alas, do what you want, I wish you best of luck
